Today, we are a major contributor to Tanzania’s solid position as the 3rd largest producer of spinosum behind Philippines and Indonesia. Our annual seaweeds output stands at 8,000 metric tons. With a growth program underway, we are set to increase output to 12,000 metric tons annually.
The social impact of our venture has been most compelling. C-WEED’s entry into Zanzibar’s economy has drastically changed the lives of thousands of farmers. Seaweed farming gave our farmers the chance to improve their livelihood, enabling them to cover basic needs for food, health, even education.
